"Parenting in Real Life" A 5 session parenting workshop, which focuses on helping parents to set goals, manage stress as well as learn new tools for changing behavior using positive approaches. The workshops will meet on 5 consecutive Thursday evenings, starting 4/30 from 6:45 - 8:15pm and will have thematic children's activity groups for children of all abilities simultaneously while parents are in the workshop. Michael Wagner, LMSW, Director for Permanency at Children's Aid Society, is the Workshop leader. Light refreshments will be offered. There is no fee, however $10 donations to help assist with costs is appreciated. This program is co-sponsored by the Mental Health Association of Rockland and the Rockland Parent-Child Center.

Parents of Adolescents Support Group Discuss the ups and downs of raising an adolescent/pre-adolescent. The group covers issues such as setting limits, establishing trust, fostering independence, encouraging competence and accountability, and communicating effectively between parents and teens. Recent studies have found that adolescents whose parents talk to them about sexuality are more likely to delay intercourse, use contraception, and have fewer partners.

By hosting parents in your home, (or anywhere!) you can get the information you need about teen development, teen realities, and strategies to help you guide your teens and pre-teens through the often-confusing realms of romance, relationships, and sexuality. CANDLE (Community Awareness Network For A Drug-Free Life And Environment, Inc.) was founded as a non-profit organization in 1982. Its mission is to prevent substance abuse and violence among youth. CANDLE’s goal is to improve the health and climate of our schools and our communities by providing prevention education and resistance strategies to youth and their adult allies, and support programs for young people at risk.
Child Care Resources of Rockland is a private non-profit organization that works with parents, families, child care providers, businesses and community organizations to help promote the availability of quality child care services in the area. We provide parents with child care referrals and information on evaluating quality child care, and resources on various parenting issues. We offer child care providers access to valuable training and support services for new or established programs. Child Care Resources of Rockland, Inc. also works to assess the supply and demand of child care in the community, and based on our findings, increase the supply where needed.

Every Person Influences Children, Inc. is a national not-for-profit organization that provides effective programs and resources for parents, teachers, and school administrators that help adults raise responsible and academically successful children. EPIC's mission is to help parents, teachers, and community members raise children to become responsible adults. Grace Episcopal Church Nyack Nestled in the center of the village of Nyack, Grace Episcopal Church has been a witness to the gospel for more than 140 years. The congregation comes from Rockland and Westchester Counties, NY, as well as Bergen County, NJ. Emphasizing traditional and modern liturgy and inclusive language services, the congregation is known for its community witness, excellent choral program of four choirs, and a growing and diverse church school as well as a sophisticated program of adult spiritual formation.
Head Start of Rockland County is an agency, which provides low-income children, ages 0-5, and their families with a wealth of services. Children who attend Head Start participate in a variety of educational activities at 14 sites and programs in Rockland County. Head Start offers half day and full day educational programs, services for children with disabilities, including evaluations and inclusion classes, and pre-kindergarten classes. Head Start parents are welcomed and encouraged to be involved in the every aspect of the program through the parent committees, volunteering in the classroom, policy council and the board.
Healthy Concepts Research, Inc. (HCRI) conducts health education research, evaluation, and program development in the areas of youth and adolescent health and risk behaviors, maternal and child health, smoking cessation, violence prevention and safety, HIV/STD/teen pregnancy prevention, obesity and diabetes, childhood asthma, and more. HCRI has been committed to community prevention efforts in Rockland and the surrounding area.

The JCC Rockland is dedicated to the enrichment and continuity of Jewish life and to the preservation and celebration of our rich heritage. The center shall strengthen individual awareness and connection to the Jewish community, the state of Israel, and the community at large through recreational, physical, educational, social, and cultural programs.

Nyack Center The mission of the Nyack Center is to create connections across social, cultural, and economic boundaries and to improve the life of all residents in the Nyack community. Nyack Center serves the Nyacks and the larger community of Rockland County by providing programs, facilities, and opportunities for service.

Established in 1879, the Nyack Library serves the residents of Nyack, Upper Nyack, South Nyack, Grand View, and Valley Cottage.
NOW Rockland County Chapter The National Organization for Women (NOW) is the largest organization of feminist activists in the United States. NOW has 500,000 contributing members and 550 chapters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Since its founding in 1966, NOW's goal has been to take action to bring about equality for all women. NOW works to eliminate discrimination and harassment in the workplace, schools, the justice system, and all other sectors of society; secure safe abortion, birth control and reproductive rights for all women; end all forms of violence against women; eradicate racism, sexism, and homophobia; and promote equality and justice in our society.

The Rockland Council on Alcoholism & Other Drug Dependence, Inc. (RCADD) provides individuals and families with professional chemical dependency assessments. Individuals and families assessed by the council are either self-referred or directed to RCADD by service providers in the community. Assessment and referral services are free of charge.
Rockland Family Shelter, Inc. (RFS) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt grassroots organization serving victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Rockland County, New York. Since it’s inception in 1979, RFS has worked to end violence against women and their children through direct service (both intervention and prevention), education, survivor empowerment, advocacy, inter-agency collaboration, technical assistance, and leadership in coordinated community action. RFS provides both residential and non-residential services to abused women and their families, and targeted outreach and education programs for the larger Rockland County community. Responding to Rockland’s rich cultural diversity, RFS programs also address issues of sexism, racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression, and we work to insure that all of our programs, policies, and procedures address the varied needs of our clients, particularly those in immigrant and other previously underserved populations. As of January 2007 we expanded our scope of services to include a comprehensive crime victims assistance program to provide advocacy and support services to victims of other crimes in our community.
 The Rockland Parent-Child Center (RPCC) is a family support center that offers a range of services, including infant and toddler playgroups, parent support groups, educational workshops and support for incarcerated parents. The center, located in Nyack, NY, provides a welcoming neighborhood nexus for children and parents alike.
